Pinch Me! I can not believe three years have just flown by me. Looking back, I am so thankful for all the fascinating projects and amazing people I have had the opportunity to work with. I truly appreciate the interaction that leads to innovative designs, either re-branding a company or working within established guidelines. I am fired up for year number four!
The best part of designing the “The Faces of Your Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce 2017” was working with wonderful people in our community. Thank you for the opportunity. Click here to view the directory.
Thanks again to Forever Books for hosting a fantastic ‘Discover St. Joseph’ book signing event! We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our community.
The St. Joseph Dentistry ribbon cutting was a fabulous event! It was truly delightful to reflect upon the first day we met and our discussions about their business goals, branding and logo concepts. Then to see the concepts take form, shape, color, and texture. And finally to see Dr. Howenstein and staff enjoy their beautiful new space. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the process; congratulations!
Design By Lisa, LLC is celebrating its Second Anniversary! I can’t express enough gratitude to my clients, colleagues, friends, and family for the exciting projects and relations that have developed over the past year, including projects within our community and news clients as far as Alaska. I am excited to see what unfolds in 2017 and beyond. Best wishes to you and yours over the holiday season and a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for helping make Design By Lisa, LLC a success!
The process of opening my business was a struggle for someone with a quiet and shy personality. I have been designing all my life, and this was the natural next step in my career. This is now the first anniversary of Design By Lisa, LLC! I have had the opportunity to design a number of exciting projects and meet interesting people. I am extremely grateful for the positive feedback from the community. I was humbled when thumbtack.com presented me with a “Best of 2015” design award for our area. And special thanks again to Pat Moody for the wonderful article you wrote about the opening of Design By Lisa, LLC. I am thrilled to discover what the next year will bring.
When Rand Paul announced he was running for the US Presidency in 2016, for a brief moment, I thought of Paul Rand the Graphic Designer. How different our country might be with a graphic designer as president… In addition to World peace, the environment, and improving education as top agenda items, I can imagine an executive order that all printed materials and websites be designed with thoughtfulness and purpose. A society surrounded with artfully organized images, good use of white space, legible type, and thoughtfully crafted artwork would certainly change our culture for the better. Imagine text books that have been laid out specifically to make it easier to learn. School lunch menus so artfully produced that the food would also have to rise to the challenge. This thoughtfulness would spill into our living spaces and city panning… as an example, take a look at Columbus, Ohio. Maybe, just maybe, this is the secret ingredient our government is missing? Electing a graphic designer as President might be a little out-of-the-box, but we’ve already tried former military, attorneys, and actors. I vote we give it a try.
After living in big cities like Atlanta, GA and Washington DC and working on large corporate projects, I’ve come to appreciate the value of living and designing in the same city, for friends and neighbors. I love southwestern Michigan. I married my husband in Saint Joseph along the lakeshore, and we are raising our children here. I am excited for the opportunities as a graphic designer in my charming town, both large and small.
